Nathan this year was a pirate. At first he didn't want anything to do with his pirate cosutme. But he did want his sword. I told him that if he wanted his sword, he would have to put his costume on first. After that he was very willing to get his costume on. And the rest of the evening he played the part of a pirate really well.

Happy Halloween!
Initially we were going to go to our church for the tri-ward trunk-or-treat. But Amelia told me that she really wanted to go trick-or-treating with Shelbie. She is a our neighbor's little girl and her and Amelia are the best of friends. Well I talked to Justin and he didn't see much of a difference between us going to the church or just trick-or-treating on the base. So Amelia got what she wanted and we took the kids around the base. Amelia absolutely LOVED her spider costume. Months ago she had told me that's what she wanted to be. So I started looking. Every spider costume that I saw was one of those dorky dancing spiders and that's not at all what I had in mind for her. So I thought that I could proabably make her one fairly easily. Here is the outcome.
She absolutely LOVED it. Every chance that she got she was telling people that she was a giant spider and would hold out her arms to show them all of her legs.
Nathan this year was a pirate. At first he didn't want anything to do with his pirate cosutme. But he did want his sword. I told him that if he wanted his sword, he would have to put his costume on first. After that he was very willing to get his costume on. And the rest of the evening he played the part of a pirate really well.
He would walk around and in his own little way say, "I'm a pirate. Arr." He would even try to hit Amelia with his sword every chance that he got. He loved that sword and if someone tried to hold it for him for even one minute he would freak out yealling, "Mah sword! Mah sword!" He jsut dragged it around behind him all night. But both kids were troopers and didn't get tired at all. Once Nathan realized that he was getting candy when he said, "trick-or-treat" he would get excited and run towards the houses and say, "trit tree." He really kept us all entertained all evening long. At one point Justin went to give Nathan a piece of candy and he decided to take a little break. He sat himself down right in the middle of the sidewalk and ate his candy.
Here is a picture of the kids before we left to go trick-or-treating. Shelbie is Snow White and Brooke is a She-Devil.

The kids are so cute Jenn!! Their costumes are so awesome! I bet you had fun going Trick-or-Treating with them :]
I love the face Nathan is making in the first picture! It looks like he is saying aarg! Great job on Amelia's costume, it looks great. Glad y'all had a good time :)
So cute! That little Nathan as a pirate is so adorable. My boys love swords too and we have lots around our house. Glad the kids had a good time too.
Ha ha he was saying Aarg in that picture. That's his favorite thing to say. lol
Cool Costumes! Good job on the spider, I really like that. We trick-or-treated on the base once when we lived in Texas. I like how safe it feels. We never worried about the candy and about creepy people.
Look at how crafty you are! That spider is amazing! I love that our boys were both pirates this year, how fun (maybe it would've been fun if Sam actually wore his costume... oh well.)
Sweet pictures and stories Jenn. Miss you all! And I could see by the shorts and slippers in one picture that you are definately enjoying that beautiful Hawaiian weather! We trick or treated in a chilly rain but the girls didn't want to stop. Now Laura's got a cold. :(
