Since the kids are too small to really be able to help or appreciate pumpkin carving, I thought it would be fun to paint pumpkins instead. It was a big hit. Amelia is really starting to become more creative and had alot of fun making her "face." We gave her a paintbrush and let her have free reign. She really enjoyed it.

Justin of course is all seriousness. He actually did a really good job painting his. Amelia said that he painted a scary pumpkin. lol

I felt that Nathan was still too small to paint his own pumpkin, so I thought he could help me with mine. Well, it turned out that Nathan decided it was HIS pumpkin and I COULD NOT help. Every time that I tried to make something that resembled a face, he would push my arm away, turn the pumpkin so the part that I just pained was in front of him and add some paint of his own. He really had fun with it and that is what matters.

Here is Nathan's finished version of the pumpkin. I was able to make something that resembles a face on the other side but I had to do it while he wasn't looking.

Amelia was so proud of her pumpkin. Here is her masterpiece.

Justin and his "scary" pumpkin. I personally love the cheesy mustache.

Standing on the patio with the pumpkins.

That's a good idea. Last year Jacob just helped us pull the guts out of the pumpkins. He stuck his hand in once and decided it was too gross for him.
Those pumpkins turned out so cute! Great idea, plus the pumpkins will last longer that way!!
That is a good idea. Maybe we will do that and then still keep with our tradition of carving them-we could wash off the paint when it is time to carve.
What great idea and fun family activity! Your kids are so cute.
