Dirt Cookies

Today Justin was bbqing some pork chops and the kids were outside playing with him. I had fallen asleep on the couch and when I woke up, I decided to go out and spend some time with the kids. When I got outside, Amelia was so excited to share her "dirt cookies" with me (her term not mine). Anyway, she brought her wagon over with her "cookie jar" in it and handed me a pretend cookie which, being a good mom, I proceeded to pretend to eat. Nathan, hearing the word cookie, got super excited. He kept saying cookie and about fell off of the bike he was playing on. He ran over and looked into Amelia's wagon. Me being the rational person that I am, figured that once he saw that it was jsut a bucket of dirt, he would realize that there weren't any cookies. Oh no....not my boy. He reached into the bucket (which was full of dirt) and took a handful of dirt and shoved it into his mouth before I could stop him. I told him to spit it out, but only so much would come out. Then he just decided that he would finish eating what is left in his mouth. And the gross thing is, he didn't even seem to mind.

Dang-talk about mind over matter. This could be a good thing. Veggies can become something sweet. Yeah, that is probably wishful thinking.

What, you've never had a dirt cookie before? Mmmmmm. :)

Allison might be on to something... just starting calling things "_____ cookies". Broccoli cookies, carrot cookies, pea cookies. Okay, maybe not pea cookies.

BOYS!!! Super fun!

that is hysterical! Kids will seriously eat anything as long as it involves sugar (or the facade of sugar.) LOL
